Asterisk
Furniture Design
A conceptual stool design inspired by the geometry of an asterisk, exploring structural stability, efficient manufacturing, and optimized packaging through CAD modeling and physical prototyping.

Overview
Asterisk is a conceptual stool design exploring how a simple geometric form can become a distinctive, functional piece of furniture. Inspired by the shape of an asterisk, the project investigated how its radial geometry could provide a stable foundation while creating an recognizable design.
The project focused on developing the concept into a feasible product, considering construction, material use, and packaging.
The Challenge
The challenge was to translate an iconic geometric shape into a stable, functional stool that could be manufactured efficiently. The design needed to balance visual character and structural stability with straightforward assembly, optimized material use, and compact packaging.

The Solution

I developed a concept using CAD models and scaled prototypes to explore its construction and refine its proportions. The project resulted in a proposed design supported by technical drawings, a manufacturing approach, and a packaging concept.

Although conceptual, the project explored how thoughtful geometry and design-for-manufacturing principles could create a distinctive furniture piece while simplifying production, assembly, and transport.
