Profile Modular
Furniture Design
A family of tables designed around affordable materials, simple assembly, and long-lasting construction, exploring sustainable furniture through modular metal profiles, glass, and bamboo.

Overview
Profile is a conceptual furniture collection consisting of a family of tables designed around simplicity, durability, and resource efficiency. The project explores how readily available materials and straightforward construction techniques can be combined to create affordable furniture that is easy to assemble, transport, and produce.
The collection follows a cradle-to-cradle approach, prioritizing long-lasting materials, minimal packaging, and components that can be separated and recycled at the end of their useful life.
Challenge
The main challenge was to create a design that balanced affordability, durability, and ease of production. The design needed to minimize material waste and packaging volume and also allow it to be easily assembled, disassembled, transported, and potentially reproduced using locally available resources.
Solution

The collection is built around a simple structural system using L-shaped metal profiles joined with standard nuts and bolts. Tinted glass is used for the tabletops, while bamboo boards provide the shelving surfaces. This combination creates a durable construction using materials that are widely available and can be separated for recycling.

The design allows the characteristics and geometry of each component to define its final form. The result is a functional furniture system in which construction logic takes precedence over decorative form.

The use of standardized components and mechanical fixings simplifies assembly, maintenance, and disassembly. The overall approach also considers efficient packaging and transportation, reducing unnecessary volume while supporting a sustainable product lifecycle.
