Sticks Lamp
An exploration of the dialogue between natural materials, geometric form, and light.
For this project I worked on the relationship between natural materials and geometric form. A wooden structure and organic branches come together to create a functional sculpture that transforms light, shadow, and the surrounding space.

Overview
With this lamp I explore the relationship between minimalist geometry and the organic language of nature. A simple wooden cube forms the structural base, while dry tree branches emerge from its surfaces, creating an abstract representation of branches, bushes, and natural growth. The combination of precise geometry, raw wood, and light transforms the object into something between a functional lamp and a sculptural piece.
The Challenge
The challenge was to create a functional lighting object using: wood, natural branches, and electrical components. How to combine the simplicity of minimalist geometry with the irregularity and unpredictability of natural materials. The objective was not to imitate a tree, but to abstract its essential qualities through form, material, light, and shadow. The resulting object needed to feel contemporary enough for modern interiors while retaining the rawness and visual character of the branches.
Development
From Geometry to Organic Form
The development started with the cube as a geometric and structural starting point. Its clean, controlled form establishes a visual contrast with the irregular branches inserted into its sides. The branches were selected and arranged according to their natural shape. Their tips were painted red and blue in representation of fire and water, creating a visual connection between the natural and the constructed elements.
The light source was positioned on the upper face of the cube, using a large partially reflective bulb. This configuration allows the branches to intercept the light and project their silhouettes onto the surrounding surfaces, turning shadow into a secondary material of the design.
The Solution

The final design is a functional sculpture that abstracts a tree through a minimalist language, combining the geometric precision of the wooden cube with the organic unpredictability of branches. When illuminated, it extends beyond its physical form through changing shadows, creating a dialogue between nature, material, and environment.
The lamp ultimately becomes a reminder of our connection with nature and a tribute to wood, a simple yet fundamental material that I deeply respect and appreciate.
